Dyson Partners with Skin Health Alliance
Yesterday (4 March 2015) Dyson launched its new humidifier technology in the UK. Existing humidifiers can harbour nasty bacteria which they may then circulate around the home. The Dyson humidifier uses Air Multiplier™ technology for even distribution and Dyson’s own Ultraviolet cleansing technology to kill 99.9% of bacteria in water. It projects clean, hydrated air around the room evenly and quietly. Helping you keep healthy in the winter, and doubling up as a fan to keep you cool in the summer.
On average we breathe 22,000 times a day. But breathing dry air can exacerbate breathing problems for allergy sufferers. It can also increase the body’s susceptibility to viruses.
In the winter the air gets dryer. Suddenly a whole host of symptoms can occur: chapped lips; dry, dehydrated skin; potentially leaving people more susceptible to cold and flu.
This launch coincides with the findings from a Skin Health Alliance commissioned scientific review paper assessing the effects of humidity in the home and office environment. In summary, the paper outlines that low humidity may affect the skin in a number of ways, for example by decreasing the water content of the stratum corneum, causing dry skin scales, aggravating skin texture, reducing elasticity and causing fine wrinkles.
James Dyson says: “Humidifiers are a way to create a more hygienic environment at home. Using patented UV light technology our humidifier kills 99.9% of bacteria in the machine before projecting hydrated mist evenly throughout the room.”
