Scientific review paper commissioned by the Skin Health Alliance
The Skin Health Alliance today released the findings from its independently commissioned scientific review paper assessing the effects of humidity in the home and office environment.
The paper’s authors Professor David Gawkrodger and Nina Goad reviewed international dermatology and medical journals to examine the scientific evidence proving the detrimental effects low humidity has on skin health. They discovered, for example, that low humidity decreases the water content of the stratum corneum, causes increased dry skin scales, aggravate skin texture, reduces elasticity and causes fine wrinkles.
The commissioning of the scientific review paper is yet another way the Skin Health Alliance stays current with dermatological research. By understanding and appreciating published peer reviewed science we are better placed to review our partners’ products and services when they apply for independent accreditation.
